Journey of the HR





Nazneen born and brought up in Jaipur, Rajasthan, completed her Bachelors from ST. XAVIER and MBA from IBS MUMBAI, she is currently working as an Assistant HR and training manager at Narendra Bhawan, Bikaner. She worked with some of the best Hotel brands in the world like Renaissance Mumbai and JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, being a Human resource professional and coming from a hotel background can relate to the roots of the industry. She started her interview by saying " 85% of professional success comes from having well-developed soft skills and only 15% comes from technical skills and knowledge".  It literally shows her experience and what she gained from the industry and there are much more you can find from her Interview.

Confused Hotelier- What made you think to pursue HR as a career?

Nazneen - I always liked to interact with people and I think, I might possess the ability to influence the future of the company based on the employment decisions and help develop the people around, So, I pursue my abilities and choose HR.

Confused Hotelier- What kind of problem did you face during your graduation and placements.

Nazneen - Generally college don’t focus much on soft skills, I think this is the main problem of the education system in our country and talking about my placements we had- only corporate Companies during placements as I always wanted to work with hotels. I had to search for the Job myself.

Confused Hotelier - How was your first year in the industry, did you think about leaving it once?

Nazneen - As my father is also from Hotel Industry, I always wanted to work with Hotels. I have done my Training in different Hotels in HR. I was always very excited about my first job,  it was the first Interview I gave and I got the opportunity to work with Renaissance Mumbai. After that, I never looked back.

Confused Hotelier - How was your experience working abroad?

Nazneen - It was my dream to work in Dubai. When I left For Dubai, I had no Job. I went on tourist Visa Searched for a job there on my own with no support and I got the opportunity to work with one of The Tallest Hotel in the world, JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai.

Confused Hotelier - How was your journey so far?

Nazneen – My journey is amazing so far. Getting new experiences on daily basis and I am still learning new things.

Confused Hotelier - Your view on the compensation offered to hotelier as compared to other fields?

Nazneen - Compensation is low as compared to other industries but I believe the future is amazing after a certain level.

Confused Hotelier - What does it take to be a successful hotelier, Success Mantra? 

Nazneen - Make a plan of your goals and imagine yourself at the position where you want to reach. 

Confused Hotelier - What will be your advice for the newcomers?

Nazneen - Be consistent in the decisions you make. Work for it and don’t give up easily as Perseverance is the key to success.

Nazneen - All the best for this initiative to help other students.
 
 As we all know, Human resources is an essential part of any organization as it helps in utilizing the utmost resource which is our workforce, College Placements also plays an important role but we should not be fully dependent on that as at the end it's we who have to choose the work culture and a brand. Don’t lose hope and always work towards a greater objective.

And at the end, A Hotelier must never stop learning and Hustling.
